Freudenberg China

Migrant school project

Leadership skills and social responsibility are closely connected at Freudenberg. Young Freudenberg Managers from the Freudenberg Group in China chose to voluntary support a school for migrant children in Shanghai/Jiading. They have organized donations for a school library, begun to renovate school facilities, set up a computer room and personally supported instruction for more than 500 primary school pupils.

This social commitment is an outcome of Freudenberg’s 1st China Talent Summit. During the two-year development program for young managers, the participants developed the idea for a sustainable social project as part of their understanding of the Freudenberg social responsibility. Other key elements in the program include a close exchange with Senior Management on group values, business principles, performance management, presentation techniques and conflict management modules.

As part of their initiative, the team also spent a day at the school to repair and refurbish classroom desks before the start of the new school year. Headmaster Li, himself a committed volunteer for nearly ten years, was much encouraged by the support for his school. Supported by Freudenberg volunteers he has now already made much progress to receive full recognition by the local education administration in the near future.
